NFL
Conference Champion Futures
As
we start to make our way through the NFL preseason and onto opening night,
betting futures is on a lot of gambler’s minds. We all think we know football
better than most, and we’re going to show that knowledge by wagering on some of
our can’t-miss futures. I’ve already gone over regular season team win totals
in an earlier article, so it’s time to take a look at NFL Conference Champion
futures.
AFC
Since
1994, only 10 different teams have played in the AFC Championship game with 8
different franchises getting to the Super Bowl. Coming as no shock, the New
England Patriots rule the most recent past, winning eight AFC Championship
games since 2001. The Steelers are next with three Super Bowl appearances in
the same timeframe.

Futures - Who’s Hot, can anybody Take Down the Patriots?
Who
are the favorites to win the AFC this season? You guessed it, the Pats are
favored at +250, followed by the Steelers at +500. Rounding out the top 5 are
the Chargers and Jaguars at +750 and the Texans at +800. Sufficient value is
there in this group, so dust off your crystal ball and find it.
I’ll
always consider value on the top of my list when figuring out which futures I
will bet on and which teams I will put my money on. The bottom six features the
Jets (+5500), Bills, Bengals and Fins (+3500) and Browns and Colts (+2300).
Unless you think either of these squads have a shot at making it to the Super
Bowl, even with massive odds, there is no value. Disclaimer: I would have bet
my house that Baker effin Mayfield would NOT have been drafted 1st…and
we saw how that ended.

Broncos: A Darkhorse Futures Bet for 2018/19
The
remaining teams (Ravens, Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders and Titans) may be providing
the best value, but which one is going to be last year’s version of the
Jacksonville Jaguars? Do your research, look at personnel changes, both on the
coaching staff and the roster. Find that diamond in the rough.
NFC
The
NFC has traditionally been more wide open. You only have go back since 2010 in
NFC Championship history to equal the 10 teams that played in the AFC
Championship game since 1994. The Eagles have the most appearances since 2001
with 6, but that included three straight losses between 2001 and 2003. Having
said that, just 14 teams have played in the NFC Championship game since 1994.

Betting NFL Futures - Bet Now on the NFC
At
+500, the Philadelphia Eagles are the favorite to win the NFC, but following
closely behind are the Rams at +550, the Vikings at +600, Packers at +700 and
the Saints and Falcons at +850. Looking at the top of each conference, the
Eagles represent twice the value of the Patriots, so even though the NFC has
always been more unpredictable, it offers the most value.
The
Bears and Cardinals are the basement dwellers in the NFC at +4500, with the
Redskins and Bucs at +2800. Carolina, Dallas, Detroit and the Giants have some
value in the middle of the NFC pack, but even at +1750 do you trust the Giants
or Lions to make it to the Super Bowl this season?

Pitch – What do Gamblers Need in a Sportsbook?
Betting
futures is fun because unlike betting the spread or a total on a game, futures
can provide you entertainment all season long; at least you hope they do. Take
some of the numbers I just threw at you and find the value. Better yet, sign in
or sign up to your online bookie and have a look at
all the odds. I bet when you give it a good look you’ll find something that
will jump out at you. Sometimes it’s good to go with your gut, so go with it
and get a few futures bets in before the NFL season starts.
